چکیده
The boundary element method (BEM) with Lagrangian formulation is a conceptually simple and efficient for the simulation of nonlinear wave shoaling, or without impermeable coastal structures, up to breaking. However, in post-breaking flows, domain no longer simply connected, BEM not generation new free surface. Volumes fluid (VOF) methods are made track fluid-free surfaces after breaking, but they more numerically complex less relative before This study presents numerical model, named BELWF—boundary elements flume—for mathematical two-dimensional flumes. BELWF can simulate hydrodynamics shoaling over coast profile, submerged structures any geometry. developed model applied Geotube structures. validated by comparisons OpenFOAM simulations. Both simulations show that most critical state, regarding sliding stability Geotube, occurs, typically just where reasonably assesses loads stability. Hence, valid preliminary design Finally, practical example complete process along sloped shore structure at shallow water, which develops plunging breaker. well captures event considering structure.

Wave Reflection at Submerged Breakwaters
Several types of structures are used in Coastal Engineering with the aim of preventing shoreline erosion, such as groynes, detached breakwaters, submerged breakwaters, etc. Submerged breakwaters have the advantage of their minimal visual impact, which has made them ever more popular (Chang & Liou, 2007). When the incoming waves impinge on a submerged breakwater, a process of energy transformati...

Submerged breakwaters are one of the shore protective structures. Any discontinuity in these breakwaters causes changes on current parameters including speed and water surface profile. In this paper, discontinuous submerged breakwaters were modelled to investigate the changes in the wave and flow pattern. To investigate the phenomenon, three models including a shore with constant slope, a shore ...

Article history: Received 19 October 2007 Received in revised form 19 February 2008 Accepted 20 February 2008 Available online 18 April 2008 This paper concerns the behaviour of nonlinear regular waves interacting with rectangular submerged breakwaters. A new series of experimental results is presented and compared with numerical calculations based upon a Boundary Element Method (BEM) that util...
متن کاملinvestigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures
deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
Wave-Structure Interaction for Submerged Quarter-Circle Breakwaters of Different Radii - Reflection Characteristics
The paper presents the results of a series of experiments conducted on physical models of Quarter-circle breakwater (QBW) in a two dimensional monochromatic wave flume. The purpose of the experiments was to evaluate the reflection coefficient Kr of QBW models of different radii (R) for different submergence ratios (d/hc), where d is the depth of water and hc is the height of the breakwater cres...
